Principal's Sunday Evening Message - May 22nd

Good Evening Andover Star Parents,

This is your Principal, Mr. Duncan with what we have going on over at Andover for our short, and last week, of the 2021-2022 SY.

Even though we only have 3 days left…remember the protocols that did so much to keep us safe this year. Hand washing and hand sanitizing, social distancing to the greatest extend possible and mask wearing for those that choose to do so. Common sense dictates that if you “think” you might be coming down with a cold…do what you can to protect others AND yourself. Just in the last two weeks we’ve had a lot of staff AND students out because they didn’t feel well. It’s still very important that we remember to take care of each other.

Remember that Summer School this year is only through the month of June so students that are attending will still have plenty of Summer Vacation time. Our goal to make sure YOUR children get additional instruction so they will be WELL prepared for NEXT year.

In our in short week at the “on campus” restaurant this Monday we start with Breaded Chicken Drumsticks with White Rice and Black Beans and Apples. Tuesday we have Turkey Nachos with Cheese, Lettuce and Tomato Cup and Applesauce. Then on Wednesday. which is National Bag Lunch Day, we are having a hoagie roll with Turkey and American Cheese with Apple Slices.

We are still registering students for Kindergarten and VPK for the 2022-2023 SY and will be continuing to do so over the Summer. If you wish to have your child attend Andover’s VPK or Kindergarten program for next year, please contact our front office.

Every year, we have implemented a no backpack rule for the last few days of school and will be doing that again this year. Starting this Monday-23rd, there will be no backpacks allowed at school. Instruction will continue through a more traditional method with the use of supplies already in classrooms. As the 2021-2022 school year comes to an end we ask that you remind your students to remain focused and to continue following the directions of adults AND also allow them a chance to “celebrate their accomplishments”.

Discover After School is hosting their Summer Camp right here on the Andover campus and it’s still not too late to sign your student up. You are not required to sign your child up for the WHOLE Summer if you have vacation plans. There are lots of weekly-themed activities and off campus field trips EVERY week. Information and registration details are at discoverafterschool.com . If your child currently attends the Discover program, you can register them at their desk when dropping off or picking up your children.

I would be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to thank the whole Andover Community for the amazing way you have supported the efforts of our Teachers and Staff this year. I know your children have made great progress thanks to the hard work of our teachers. I am proud of the work we accomplished as we endeavor to educate your children and to prepare them for a successful future…and hope you are too. It is a pleasure to continue to work WITH the Andover Community to make all our children successful citizens…every day!...soooo THANK YOU!

This will be my final weekly announcement for THIS year…I do not plan on sending out any Parents messages, unless absolutely necessary because everyone needs to enjoy their Summer Break….and so….I hope you’ll enjoy the rest of your weekend and I wish you and your families a  relaxing Summer AND a VERY stary night. Goodbye for now.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kevin J. Duncan MA Ed.
