Principal's Message

Good Evening Andover Star Parents,

This is your Principal, Mr. Duncan, with what’s happening over at Andover for this upcoming week.

I want to thank ALL Parents for actively participating in this year’s Stakeholder Survey! Over 24% of you responded to our survey. While we didn't reach 100%, our initial goal was 20%, and we comfortably surpassed that. Your participation is invaluable, and I eagerly anticipate reviewing the results to identify areas where we can further enhance our support for your students, here at Andover Elementary.

This coming Tuesday, April 16th, we have our next Spirit Night at McDonald's on Curry Ford Road from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. I’ll be there with many of our Teachers and Staff. Whether you dine in or drive-thru, make sure you tell their staff that YOU are there to support Andover Elementary so we get credit for the order.

Our own Andover PTA is presenting BINGO Night this coming Wednesday, April 17th, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in our Cafeteria. You’ll be able to win some great prizes. There's NO cost to play…but we’d appreciate you registering so we know how many people to plan to welcome!

On May 9th at 6:15 p.m., around Lake Eola in downtown Orlando, Team OCPS-Andover Elementary will participate in the Simply IOA Corporate 5k. This fun-filled event always attracts a large crowd and is an excellent opportunity to collaborate as a team. You can register by visiting the link: https://haku.ly/cd67c09711 . There are only 24 days left to join the fun!

Arts Night at Andover is on Wednesday, April 24th, and we're excited to invite our community to this family-friendly event where they can enjoy artwork created by our talented students. There will be ocean-themed activities and live performances by our 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students. Parents can explore our Oceanic Art Gala in the Media Center. The event will be held from 5-7:00 pm in our PE Pavilion and Bus Loop area. “OCEAN ART” will be available for purchase to help support our Art Program. If you are interested, we're also looking for Parent and High School additions-approved volunteers to help make this event successful.

We still have a lot to do this year, but with Summer right around the corner, Discover After School is hosting a Summer Camp right here on the Andover Campus to help support students in our community. Summer Camp starts on May 28th and goes all the way through August 2nd  for students in grades K-5. The cost for the whole Summer is only $160, and there is a field trip to local attractions every Friday. Please share this information with families in your communication home to Parents.

I’m excited to provide an update on our new playgrounds! Equipment for our TWO new playgrounds is scheduled to be delivered this coming Wednesday, April 17. We are at the “mercy” of an outside vendor, so it may not be delivered precisely on that day, BUT it should be shortly after, if not. The permit application for installation is still pending, so there is no scheduled installation date yet, but we are VERY excited about the new stuff. A schedule will be sent out once the permit is approved and installation can occur. During the work, BOTH areas will be closed to students until they are completed AND inspected for safety.

This week we’re serving the following meals in our Café:

Monday-Hamburger/Cheeseburgers, Vegetarian Beans, Applesauce

Tuesday-Corn Dog, Seasoned French Fries, Strawberry Cup

Wednesday-Rotini w/Meatballs, Fresh Steamed Broccoli, Diced Pears

Thursday-Popcorn Chicken, Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, Tangerines

Friday-Four Cheese Pizza, Marinara Dipping Sauce, Applesauce

AND that's all for this message. Have a very starry night. Goodbye for now.
